His art history videos are based on the premise that understanding the life of the artist, their motivations, influences and the context in which they lived, gives us insights into their world and their work.

Paul’s art history videos are freely available on his YouTube channel.

Our Mission

Mission & Values

Art History School seeks to inspire and educate everyone about art and artists with our passionate and informative art videos. We aim to tell the life stories of great artists in an entertaining fashion, without jargon and pretention.

Our History

Art History School

Paul Priestley was born in Yorkshire sometime last century and taught art for a number of years. He left art teaching early to set up his own interactive art events in schools, re-enacting the lives of great artists and running practical art workshops in the style of those artists.

The success of these interactive art events, plus the demand from a wider audience, led to the birth of Art History School.
